True North Books & More was first dreamt in the early days of my youth as my mother and I walked the wonder-filled aisles of the many bookstores we shopped. I grew up listening to my mother read her humorous stories of mice, camels, and woodland adventures, but more importantly, the Word of God. 

As an avid writer living a mostly nomadic life with a husband and five children, Mama lavished her closest and most often only audience with her tales of silly conversations. Of course beside her own stories, she often read to us from Patrick F. McManus's books, her favorite being A Fine and Pleasant Misery.

The long nights out on the road traveling in our 1955 school bus (painted red, white, and blue) were spent easing tension by bringing laughter into what some may see as a dire situation. Mama instilled a love for reading, writing, and drawing into me (her youngest). To this day, this bookstore is about fulfilling a lifelong dream of not just one generation but 2. I only wish she were here to see it become what we saw in our hearts so  long ago. And hopefully one I will leave to my own grandchildren.
